
Som-Pimpong Bests Own Record at Tiger Invitational

CLEMSON, S.C. — Junior Kwame Som-Pimpong set a new school record and placed seventh in the triple jump to lead the Wildcat men's track and field team at the Tiger Invitational in Clemson over the weekend.
Som-Pimpong continued to improve his own record in the event with a mark of 14.06 meters (46' 1/2”). Already the school record holder entering the season, his previous best of 13.69 meters (44' 11”) was set earlier this season at the Patriot Games.
Junior Will Funderburg turned in a pair of Top 10 finishes with two Davidson Top 10 performances in the weight throw and the shot put. He placed 10th in the weight throw with a mark of 13.87 meters (45' 6 1/4”) and 10th in the shot put with a mark of 14.40 meters (47' 3”).
In the 3,000 meters, junior Thad Sieracki turned in the Wildcats' other Davidson Top 10 performance of the meet, finishing sixth with a time of 8:40.70. Junior Alex Hoyt made a strong showing the in the mile with a sixth-place time of 4:22.75.
The Wildcats will now take some time to prepare for the Southern Conference Indoor Championships, to be held on the campus of Clemson University from Feb. 29 through March 1.
