DAVIDSON, N.C. — Junior Kyri Bye-Nagel (Hanau, Germany) added to her postseason accolades by representing Davidson with a nod on the All-State University Division Women's Soccer Team for the second straight season as announced by the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) today.
Bye-Nagel joins Kara Koehrn as the only two Wildcats in program history to be named to the all-state team twice. Koehrn garnered the honor in 2004 and 2005.
A month ago, the junior earned her second straight nod on the All-SoCon First Team after being one of two Wildcats in 2008 to be named to the first team.
Coming off a breakout sophomore campaign that saw her net a team- and career-high 12 goals, Bye-Nagel once again paced one the top offensive units in the SoCon this year. Bye-Nagel concluded her junior campaign with team bests of nine goals and 20 points, finishing fifth and sixth, respectively, in the league in each category. She started all 19 of the Wildcats' games this season, one of just four players to do so.
Bye-Nagel twice was named SoCon Player of the Week this year, pushing her career weekly award honors to four.
After not scoring a single goal during her freshman season, Bye-Nagel has now tallied 21 goals the past two years, while picking up four assists for her career. She has recorded five game-winners, including two this past season.
The junior forward was one of three Southern Conference players to earn a nod on the 11-member team, joining UNC Greensboro's Kelsey Kearney (goalkeeper) and Katelynn Donovan (Midfielder). Charlotte led the all-state team with four student-athlete representatives, followed by Wake Forest and UNC Greensboro with each placing two players on the squad.
The team consists of NCAA Division I student-athletes from North Carolina colleges and universities. Nominees are submitted by North Carolina sports information professionals and then NCCSIA members vote for the all-state team.
Davidson concluded its fifth straight winning season with a 10-6-3 overall mark this year, and have hit the 10-win plateau in all five of those seasons.
