DAVIDSON, N.C. — First-year head coach Kim Wayne today announced the signing of eight incoming freshmen for the 2010 season during the early signing period for the Davidson women's lacrosse team.
The Wildcats, fresh off a school-record 11-win season in 2008, will welcome Sibley Keena Classen (Baltimore, Md.), Erin McGuire (Bishopville, Md.), Alexandra DeFrancesch (Manhasset, N.Y.), Abigail Doelger (West Hartford, Conn.), Alanna Parker (Spring Valley, Calif.), Taylor White (Charlotte, N.C.), Jessica Palfrey (Bronxville, N.Y.), and Morgan Tarrant (Richmond, Va.) to the program next season.
“I'm thrilled that these eight student-athletes have committed to attend Davidson in the fall of 2009," said Wayne. "All eight players bring a unique quality to the program and we are excited about welcoming them to the Wildcat family.”
Sibley Keena Classen, Attack, Baltimore, MD
- A senior out of Roland Park Country Day, I have watched Keena grow into a smooth, quiet and yet dominant attacker. Her stick skills and vision in the midfield are only two of Keena's great qualities.
Erin McGuire, Defense, Bishopville, MD
- A three sport athlete out of Stephen Decatur High School, Erin's hustle and game sense immediately sparked our attention. She has an eye for the check and stick skills that will help make her a true midfield defender.
Alexandra DeFrancesch, Attack, Manhasset, NY
- A Long Island native, Ali has been playing lacrosse since she was practically born. A true attacker, Ali's patience with the ball and ability to see the field will eventually make her a dominant feeder.
Abigail Doelger, Midfield/Defender, West Hartford, CT
- A senior at Hall High School in Connecticut, Abigail spent the entire fall season as a member of the crew team. Her strength and muscle will help her become a top Division 1 defender.
Alanna Parker, Midfield, Spring Valley, CA
- Parker, a senior at Monte Vista High School will join Erin Keitel as a fellow California native. Parker's raw talent is what attracted us to her from the start. She loves the game and will do what it takes to help bring this program to the next level.
Taylor White, Midfield, Charlotte, NC
- Born and raised in North Carolina and currently a senior at Charlotte Catholic High School, Taylor's eagerness to learn and succeed will help prepare her for the Division 1 level.
Jessica Palfrey, Midfield, Bronxville, NY
- A two sport athlete out of Bronxville High School, Jessica brings a tremendous amount of speed to the program. The first player to commit to Davidson, Jessica is thrilled to be one of the newest members of the Wildcat family.
Morgan Tarrant, Defense, Richmond, VA
- A senior out of The Collegiate School in Virginia, Morgan's athletic ability and leadership skills have turned her into a top recruit. According to her club coach, Morgan will go above and beyond what is asked of her. She is a leader in every way.
The Wildcats will open their 2009 season at home against Limestone, Feb. 13 at 6 p.m. It will be the first of eight straight home games to start the year for Davidson.
