Davidson Wraps Up Season at NCAA Southeast Regionals

CLEMMONS, N.C. - The Davidson men's cross country team, closing out their 2008 season, brought home a 21st place finish at the NCAA Southeast Regional, held Saturday at the Tanglewood State Park in Clemmons, N.C.
Senior Lance Harden led the Wildcats with a time of 33:07 for the 8K course, good for 90th place. Behind him was sophomore Greg Marcil in 126th with a 33:48 mark. Classmate Charlie Schmitt was nine spots back in 135th, crossing the line in 34:04.
Davidson's Thad Sieracki closed out his collegiate career with a 34:15 time for the race and a 139th-place finish. Rounding out the Wildcat contingent were freshmen Ian Tupper, who ran a 34:49 mark, and #Ryan Hopkins, who had a time of 35:15 in their first regional meets, and sophomore Jonathan Koch (36:16/192).
William & Mary won the regional team title with 66 points, followed in the top three by Virginia (67 points), and North Carolina State (111 points). Davidson's 619 points were good for its 21st team spot. The individual championship was won by Liberty's Samuel Chelanga, who traversed the 8K course in 29:53, the only sub-30-minute runner in the field.
