Men's Cross Country Brings Home Eighth-Place Finish at SoCon Championships

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Led by junior Lance Harden's 11th-place finish, the Davidson men's cross country team came in eighth overall at the 2008 Southern Conference Championships Saturday Morning and Miliken Park in Spartanburg, S.C.
Harden brought home the top finish among the Wildcat contingent, finishing the 8K course in a time of 25:27 to come in just outside the top-ten to garner second-team All-Southern Conference honors, and the best finish for a Davidson runner in two years.
Coming in behind Harden was sophomore #Charlie Schmitt, who ran the course in a time of 26:23, good for 33rd place. In his first career SoCon Championships, freshman Ryan Hopkins continued his strong rookie campaign with a 48th-place finish, recording a time of 26:52.
Closing out the scoring for Davidson was Ian Tupper's time of 27:13, good for 54th, and senior Thad Sieracki, who closed out his SoCon career with a 58th-place finish and 27:27 mark.

Overall, Appalachian State placed four runners in the top 10 to help the team outpace the field as they won their fourth straight SoCon title. Leading the way for the Mountaineers was senior Asmeron Desta, who finished second in the 8K with a time of 24:35.18.
