DAVIDSON, N.C. – After an outstanding four-year playing career that included All-Southern Conference honors all four seasons, senior Nancy Haskell (Blacksburg, Va.) of the Davidson women's soccer team added yet another award to her resume with a spot on the Soccer Buzz Southeast All-Regional third team, recently.
It marked the second time in her career she earned a spot on the third team of the regional 14-member squad as she also garnered the honor in 2005.
Leading the way for the Wildcats this past fall season on defense, while also providing tremendous leadership, was Haskell. A tri-captain and already a three-time all-conference honoree, Haskell capped her senior campaign off with another nod on the SoCon first team, marking the third straight year she has garnered first-team all-conference honors. Haskell was named to the second team after her freshman season.
Haskell helped lead a stout Wildcat defense this year that tied the school record for shutouts in a season with 10. She also provided plenty of spark on offense as well, assisting on a career-best six goals. All six of Haskell's assists came in Wildcat wins, and three of them were on game-winners.
The defender's junior campaign saw her became the second Wildcat ever to earn a nod on the NSCAA All-Region third team. In addition, she also earned a spot on CoSIDA Academic All-District third team, which she accomplished again along with senior Bevin English (Charleston, S.C.) this year.
For her career, Haskell started all 81 games she played. She earned 11 assists to go along with two goals for 15 points.
Davidson concluded a very successful season by matching the 1999 and 2005 teams for most wins in a single-season with a 14-5-1 overall record. Davidson also tied the school-record for most shutouts in a season with 10.
The Wildcats, who finished second with an 8-1-1 regular season league mark, had their run in the SoCon tournament come to an end when they lost 1-0 to Furman in the semifinals on Friday, Nov. 9.
The 'Cats finished ranked 10th in the final National Soccer Coaches Association of America/adidas regional poll on Nov. 6.
