Men's Cross Country Runners Selected Fifth in SoCon Preseason Coaches Poll

DAVIDSON, N.C. — The Southern Conference cross country coaches have selected the Wildcat men's cross country team fifth in the 2007 SoCon preseason cross country poll.
Appalachian State, with two consecutive championships, received nine first-place votes (81 points), followed by Furman with 66 points. Chattanooga received one first-place vote (61) and finished third, followed by UNC Greensboro (59) and Davidson (53). Elon and College of Charleston tied for sixth (34), while The Citadel (31), Western Carolina (21) and Wofford (10) round out the men's poll.
The Davidson men finished fourth at the 2006 Southern Conference championship, behind a third-place finish by Lance Harden. Senior team captain Sam Morris, who turned in the 'Cats second-best time for a 21st-place finish last year, will carry this year's team.
