DAVIDSON, N.C. -- Junior Kelsey Linville of the Davidson College women's tennis team has been selected to the SoCon's All-Conference first team as announced by the league office Thursday afternoon. The all-conference squads were voted on by the 10 league head coaches.
A native of Columbus, Ohio, Linville concluded the 2007 regular season with an 11-10 overall record and 7-3 mark in conference duals from the top-seeded position. After opening the slate just 4-7, the 2005 SoCon Freshman of the Year recorded a 7-3 clip over her last 10 singles contests to run her career record to 59-21. Even more impressive, Linville is 25-4 in SoCon competition.
To go along with her career singles mark, Linville owns a three-year doubles record of 46-25 and is 21-7 in conference partners tilts. Named to the league's second team as a freshman, and first team last season, Linville becomes the first Wildcat since Kelly Fillnow (2002-05) to begin her career with three straight all-conference honors. Former Davidson standout Dana Casner (1996-1999) is the only player in program history to earn first-team recognition each of her four campaigns.
Davidson climbed to as high as 66th in the FILA Women's Tennis Collegiate Rankings before dropping two of its last four matches to enter tomorrow¹s Southern Conference Tournament match with Georgia Southern as the third seed and 17-6 overall.
