
Knoll and Mayo Tabbed Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars

DAVIDSON, N.C. -- For the second consecutive year, Alex Knoll and Steve Mayo of the Davidson College men's golf team have been named Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).
"I am very proud of Alex and Steve and their commitment to academics and golf, commented Coach Tim Straub. "They are among an elite group of student athletes and they embody everything Davidson College and our golf program strive for."
Only juniors and seniors are eligible to be a Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar and must have at least a 3.2 cumulative grade-point average. In addition, golfers must have under a 76.0 stroke average for Division I, under 78.0 for Division II and under 79.0 for Division III.
Davidson will begin its 2007 Fall campaign at the Xavier Invitational in Loveland, Ohio. The 54-hole event will be played Oct. 1-2 at the Oasis Golf Club.
