DURHAM, N.C.— Senior Douglas Noreen (Apex, N.C.) and sophomore Will Funderburg (Buford, Ga.) each etched their names on the Davidson Top Ten Performance list on Sunday with top-10 showings in the 1500-meter and shot put at the Duke Twilight in the confines of Wallace Wade Stadium.
Noreen, fresh off being named the Southern Conference's Most Valuable Track Performer at the championships a couple of weeks ago, picked up a sixth place finish in the 1500-meter with a time of 3:55.01. The senior already is headed to the NCAA regionals in the event after earning first place honors at the SoCon Championships.
Funderburg represented the Wildcats in the field events on Sunday with fourth and sixth place showings in the discus and the shot put. He first threw the discus and earned a throw of 146' 2" to come in fourth out of nine throwers. His throw was also good enough for both the Davidson Top Ten Performance and Performer lists.
He then closed out the Twilight with a throw of 49' 6-1/2" in the shot put to earn a sixth place finish.
Also competing on Sunday was junior Brad Troxell (Fort Collins, Colo.) and sophomore JinHan Justin Song (Seoul, Korea). Troxell ran in the 400-meter and came in with a time of 50.34 for a 10th place showing.
Song ran in both the 100- and 200-meters on Sunday. He picked up times of 11.42 in the 100-meter, while crossing the finish line with a time of 23.09 in the 200-meter.
Davidson's next track and field event will be this weekend when it heads to Atlanta, Ga. for the Georgia Tech Invite on May 11-12.
