
Ritchie Earns Third Wildcat Athlete of the Week Honor for Men's Track and Field

DAVIDSON, N.C.— Davidson's senior David Ritchie (Austin, Texas) earned his first Southern Conference Runner of the Week honor this season for men's track and field as announced by the league today after earning a first place finish in the 400-meter with a school-record time at the Radford Collegiate Invitational on Apr. 14. The weekly award was the Wildcats' fifth as a team during both the indoor and outdoor seasons this year.
Ritchie, a tri-captain for Davidson's men's track team, picked up a new school-record time of 47.84 in the 400-meter to become the first Wildcat long-sprinter to run the event under 48 seconds. He broke his two-week old school mark by nearly two-tenths of a second. Currently, the senior's time ranks second on the conference lists.
Davidson will now ready its self for the SoCon Championships, which takes place this weekend on Saturday and Sunday, Apr. 21-22.The Wildcats earned a third place showing last season with 84 points, the program's best-ever finish and their highest since a fifth place showing in 1957, '69 and '72.
