Davidson Men's Track and Field Sets School Mark at Cross-County Rival Charlotte's Invitational

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The 4x400 team set a new Davidson record, and senior Jim Walter placed first in the discus, as the Wildcat men's track and field team competed at the Charlotte Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
The 4x400 relay team's time of 3:18.01 bettered the previous mark of 3:18.48 was set by JinHan Justin Song, David Ritchie, Douglas Noreen and John Bialas last season.
Ritchie earned himself his own individual record when he broke Mark Connors time of 48.46 set in 1975 by 43 seconds in the 400-meter with a new school best time of 48.03.
Walter's throw of 45.09 meters (147' 11") was tops in the field of 12 throwers, while freshman Tom Divinnie finished second in the 3000-meters with a time of 8:44.15.
Senior Douglas Noreen finished third in the 800 meters with a time of 1:53.02, and junior Beaux Jones, in only his second collegiate event, was third in the javelin with a throw of 163' 6", good for a spot on the Davidson Top Ten Performer List.
Also earning a spot on the list as well as the top ten performance list was freshman Tom Divinnie with a run of 8:44.15 in the 3000-meter for a second place finish.
The men's tricksters will return to action on April 14 at the Radford Invitational.
