Two 'Cats Named First-Team Academic All-District

Davidson, N.C. - Defensive back Patrick FitzGerald and wide receiver Myles Potter have been named first-team ESPN The Magazine All-District III in a vote conducted by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Both players will advance to the national ballot for Academic All-America Honors.
FitzGerald, who owns a 3.42 grade point average in history, is a repeat selection on the All-District Team. The senior has 50 tackles, including one for loss, an interception, two fumble recoveries and six pass break-ups. His 10 career interceptions rank third among active players in the Pioneer Football League, and he has started 30 career games, including the last 29.
Potter has played in all nine games this season and has 27 receptions for 387 yards and two touchdowns. The junior's 67-yard touchdown reception against Morehead State Oct. 6, is the longest for Davidson since 2005. He has a 3.58 grade point average in chemistry.
Davidson plays its 2007 season finale at home Saturday, Nov. 10, on Senior Day. The Wildcats will honor 18 seniors prior to the noon kickoff against Valparaiso.
