'Cats Make Home Debut Saturday

Davidson, N.C. - The Davidson wrestling team will make its home debut Saturday, Dec. 1, as the Wildcats host the Davidson Open in the Knobloch Indoor Tennis Center. Action for the 15-team tournament begins at 9 a.m., and admission is free.
Trebor Clavette, who has earned a No. 30 national ranking (WrestlingReport.com) at 174 after placing second in each of his first two tournaments, leads the Wildcats. The senior is 7-2 and has pinned three opponents.
Sophomore Ben Altman has two fourth-place finishes at 125 under his belt and owns an 8-4 record, while Sam O'Hair is 9-4 with three pins at 184. The junior finished fourth in the Pembroke Classic and fifth in the Navy Classic.
A number of Wildcats have collected their first collegiate victories this season. Sophomore Carl Sandercock, who sat out the 2006-07 campaign with injuries, posted two victories at 141, including one by pin, at the Pembroke Open.
Freshmen twin brothers Alex (133) and Vitali Radsky (125) registered victories in each tournament, while classmate Joe McGinley went 2-2 at 149 in both tournaments. Freshman heavyweight Charlie Wolff also posted a win in each tourney, pinning one opponent.
The Wildcats are coming off a seventh-place finish at the 12-team Navy Classic Nov. 17. Following the Davidson Open, the 'Cats will finish the fall semester by competing at the two-day Southern Scuffle in Greensboro, N.C., Dec. 29 and 30.
