Six Wildcats Named All-Pioneer Football League

Davidson, N.C. - Six Davidson football players have been named All-Pioneer Football League, and two more received honorable mention as the league announced its postseason honors Tuesday.
Wide receiver Ryan Hubbard and offensive tackle George Zoeckler earned first-team All-PFL honors.
Quarterback Ryan Alexander, fullback Kirk Benedict and linebackers Bud Crawford and Peter Bakke were named to the second team. Noseguard Will Funderburg and offensive lineman Will Nolte earned honorable mention honors.
Hubbard caught 64 passes for 886 yards and six touchdowns to become the Wildcats' all-time leading receiver. The senior capped his career by catching 50 passes for 763 yards in the last five games after returning from an injury. He led the conference in receptions per game and ranked second in receiving yards per game and third in all-purpose yards per contest.
Zoeckler and Nolte anchored an offensive line that led the league and ranked third in the country in sacks allowed with seven in 393 pass attempts. Davidson ranked third in the PFL in total offense, scoring offense and passing offense.
Alexander became the 'Cats' all-time leader in passing and total offense after throwing for 2,238 yards and 18 touchdowns in eight contests. The senior also rushed for 108 yards on 34 carries. He was second in the league in passing yards and third in total offense.
Crawford started all 10 games and logged 42 tackles (32 solo), leading the team with 9.5 tackles for loss and five sacks. The senior also recorded an interception, forced two fumbles and blocked a kick. Bakke tied for the team lead with 71 tackles and registered 4.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks. The junior forced a fumble and recorded four pass break-ups.
Davidson finished the campaign with a 6-4 record for the second consecutive season and posted a 4-3 mark in PFL play. All postseason selections were made by the league's head coaches, who were not permitted to vote for their own players.
