
Wildcat Men Finish 25th at 2007 NCAA Southeast Cross Country Regionals

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Led by sophomore Tom Divinnie, who finished the 10K race in a time of 33:11.50, the Wildcat men placed four runners in a bunch from the 120th to 132nd place and amassed 683 points to finish in 25th place at the 2007 NCAA Southeast Regionals held on the campus of the University of Louisville on Saturday morning.
The Wildcats' fifth scorer last season, junior Alex Hoyt placed 129th with a time of 33:27.65, an improvement from last season's 163rd finish in a time of 34:21.80. He was followed by junior Thad Sieracki at 130th in a time of 33:28.10.
Fresh off a team-best 13th-place finish at the SoCon championsips, senior Sam Morris finished in 137th place behind a time of 33:32.75, bettering both his place and time from a season ago when he was 147th in a time of 33:48.25. Freshman Greg Marcil completed the scoring for the 'Cats, finishing in 172nd place in a time of 35.40.75.
North Carolina State placed five runners in the top 20 to amass 69 points, just edging host Louisiville (70) for the team title. The two top team finishers, N.C. State and Louisville will earn the automatic team bids to the 2007 NCAA Cross Country Championships, set for Nov. 19 in Terre Haute, Ind. William & Mary (74), Virginia (116) and Liberty (168) rounded out the top five in team scoring.
Last year's runner-up, Liberty's Josh McDougal took top individual honors, finishing first in a time of 29:30.70.
The Wildcat men finished in 24th place at the 2006 Regionals. This year's squad dropped just a spot, despite losing the team's top three scorers from a year ago to graduation.
