On Saturday, October 6th, the Davidson Women's Soccer team stepped out of their cleats for a morning to participate in the 24th Anniversary of the Susan G. Komen Race For The Cure to benefit breast cancer research.
The 'Cats got an early start, heading to Uptown Charlotte at 6:30am to arrive and register for the 8am 5K jog/walk.
The 2007 Komen Charlotte Race for the Cure was our best Race ever, according to the Komencharlotte.org website. The race had over 12,700 participants, and raised an estimated 1.2 million dollars.
According to the website, 75 percent of the net proceeds remain in the local service area to support education, screening and treatment. This insures that local contributions has a direct and positive impact on their local community. The remaining 25 percent is combined with the proceeds of over 100 Komen Affiliates around the country to fund a National Research Grant Program.
