DAVIDSON, N.C. - Davidson wrestling coach Bob Patnesky announced today that Joe Privitere has been named an assistant coach for the Wildcats.
Privitere spent the last two seasons at The Citadel, where he coached Dan Thompson, the first wrestling All-American in school history.
“Joe has been a great addition to our program,” said Patnesky. “He has a tremendous work ethic both in the office and on the mat, and I think that with his expertise, we can take the Davidson wrestling program even further.”
A 2003 graduate of Binghamton University, Privitere holds the Bearcat single-season victory record with 38. He was a Division II All-American his freshman year and an all-conference selection in 2002 and 2003.
In addition to his college experience, Privitere was also the 1998 High School National Champion, 1999 FILA Greco All-American, 2000 FILA Greco World Team Trial Champion and the 2000 FILA Greco World Silver Medalist.
He earned a master's degree in health, exercise and sport science from The Citadel in 2007.
The Wildcats open the 2007-08 season at the Pembroke Open Nov. 10.
