CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Senior Kelsey Linville (Columbus, Ohio) and sophomore Virginia Berry (Spartanburg, S.C.) teamed up to advance to the quarterfinals of the main doubles draw as they represented the Davidson women's tennis team at the ITA Southeast Regionals over the weekend of Oct. 18-21.
The duo started their tournament run in the round of 32 after getting a first-round bye and secured an 8-2 win over the ninth-seeded team from Middle Tennessee State. Linville and Berry then earned a bid into the quarterfinals when the team of Lenka Hojckova and Daria Petrovic of N.C. State was forced to retire because of an injury.
The Wildcats' doubles team saw their run come to an end when the fifth-seeded team of Alex Hirsh and Sasha Kulikova of Wake Forest defeated them by the score of 8-4.
Linville also competed in the main draw for singles, but dropped her first round match in the round of 64 to Ellah Nze of Duke, 6-2, 6-3. Nze was seeded third in the main singles draw.
Davidson concludes its fall season by heading down to the South Carolina tournament on the 26th of October for its third and final fall tournament.
