Golf Sits 19th After Two Rounds of Xavier Invitational

LOVELAND, Ohio -- With three freshman making their collegiate debuts, the Davidson golf team opened with a 36-hole total of 601 (299-302) to sit in 19th after day one of the 2007 Xavier Invitational. The 54-hole event is being played on the 6,921-yard, par 72 Oasis Golf Club layout.
Junior co-captain's David Fowler and Michael Saari lead the club through two rounds with scores of 150 (73-77) and 151 (78-73), respectively, while first-year players Robert Mayo (73-79) and Adam Lewicki (79-73) are tied for 77th in the individual standings. Bobby Urso rounded out the Wildcat scoring with a 155 (75-80) on Monday.
Marquette leads the team standings with a 15-under 561, which included a tournament record 266 (-22) in round two. Eastern Kentucky's Phillip Hendrickson and Joshua Kelley of St. Mary's are tied for first on the individual leaderboard at 10-under 134, while 11 other golfers find themselves within five strokes of the lead.
Davidson will conclude its appearance in the 2007 Xavier Invitational Tuesday before continuing the fall campaign at the Savannah Intercollegiate Oct. 15 & 16.
