HANOVER, N.H. — The Davidson Wildcat field hockey team wrapped up a three-game trip to Hanover, N.H., with a 3-0 loss to the University of New Hampshire Wildcats on Tuesday afternoon at Dartmouth College's Scully-Fahey Field.
With the loss, the Wildcats fall to 8-7, while New Hampshire evens to 8-8.
Shauna Sellenger started the scoring for the New Hampshire Wildcats, scoring at 12:44 on a pass from Megan Shea from the top-left of the circle.
New Hampshire extended its lead to 2-0 on a penalty corner at 32:20. Cally Cooke pushed to Sellenger at the top of the circle, and Kara Napolitano finished, putting away a deflection from Brooke Bercari.
Davidson had its best scoring chance just over eight minutes into the second period, as the 'Cats earned a pair of penalty corners. Junior midfielder Britti Himelfarb's shot from the top-right of the circle was denied, but Davidson was awarded a second corner. Senior back Jen Willis' shot, though, from the left side strayed wide.
The New Hampshire 'Cats closed out the scoring at 67:12, as Sam Geary converted on a corner to lift UNH to the 3-0 win.
New Hampshire held a 15-3 edge on shots and a 12-3 lead in penalty corners.
Davidson will host its final home games of the season next week, as they welcome Appalachian and Radford in non-conference matchups. The 'Cats will face App. at 7 p.m., Wed., Oct. 24 and Radford at 2:30 p.m., Sat., Oct. 27. Davidson recorded 3-2 and 2-0 road wins, respectively, over ASU and Radford earlier in the season.
