Women's Track Opens Indoor Season at Appalachian Invitational

BOONE, N.C. -- The Davidson women's track and field team kicked off the indoor season at the Appalachian Invitational on Sat., Dec. 2 in Boone, setting four new school records in the team's first competition.
The 11-team field featured the host Mountaineers along with other Southern Conference rivals Western Carolina and Wofford, as well as Charlotte, UNC Asheville and Gardner-Webb.
With a time of 7.48 in the 55 meter dash, Chierko Phillips set a new school record and finished 11th, and she turned in her second top-15 finish, placing eighth in the 200 meter dash with a time of 26.81.
In the 400 meter dash, Jessica Chasen finished sixth with a time of 60.26, also breaking the school mark.
In the field events, Kristen Meister and Kennesia Marlin each smashed school records. Meister finished second in the high jump with a 1.63m jump, while Marlin's jump of 11.28m was good for a seventh-place finish.
