Brian Stoup, a standout thrower for the Tar Heels, enters his sixth year as a volunteer assistant coach for the Wildcats, working primarily with the shot put, javelin, and discus throwers.
A 1997 graduate of North Carolina, Stoup was a four-year letterwinner who helped the Tar Heels to four Atlantic Coast Conference Championships from 1993-1996. He was named to the All-ACC Academic Team in both 1995 and 1996. Also, in 1996 Stoup was a recipient of the National All Sports Day Award for excellence in athletics, academics and community service.
Stoup graduated with a bachelor of arts in economics and currently works for Astellas as a urogoly specialty representative in the Charlotte area. He and his wife reside in Mooresville, N.C.
