Cathy Sheafor

Cathy Sheafor joined the Davidson coaching staff in December, 2022.
Sheafor previously served as the founding head coach of Swim Charleston from 2016-21.
At Swim Charleston, Sheafor developed all team programming, coached all instructional and competitive swim levels including Masters, oversaw all coaches, coached the triathlon program and ran camp programs. Her athletes won state championships and qualified for Sectionals, Futures, Masters Nationals and USAT Age Group National Championships.
Before starting Swim Charleston, Sheafor coached at LTP in South Carolina, Sailfish Aquatics in North Carolina and Bridgeton Swim Club in Missouri. She served on the Board of Directors, as Age Group Chair, and as Technical Planning Chair for South Carolina Swimming.
Swim Charleston won the 10U Program Award in 2021, and Sheafor won the SC Age Group Coach of the Year in 2019. She currently serves as an organizing member of Women Swim Coaches in Governance, a USA swimming initiative geared towards identifying, educating, supporting, and mentoring female coaches who wish to be more involved in organizational governance.
Sheafor graduated from Duke in 1988 with an A.B. in History and earned a JD from Washington University in 1992.
