Support Staff Game Changer Award Nominees
Brian Barmes, Equipment Room
-"Handles laundry not just for our team, but the entire athletic department. Is here countless hours that no one realizes and never complains."
Deidra DeMoss, Athletic Training
-"The consummate professional. She tends to our athletes' needs without babying them. She gets them back on the court without putting anyone in jeopardy. She is their friend while maintaining her professionalism. Finally, she is as much a counselor as she is a medical trainer."
Emily Hintz, Marketing & Promotions
-"Emily has done a fabulous job of both increasing the exposure of [our sports] in the community as well as making our players feel proud of the organization they represent and celebrated for the scholar-athletes that they are. From organizing community clinics on National Girls In Sports Day, to providing autograph posters for fans, to providing social media content to celebrate our players, Emily has done her job with excellence and intentionality."
Justin King, Athletic Training
-"A newcomer to our Training Room Staff who came in at the 11th hour this season and was magnificent with his performance, commitment of time and energy and care for our players...and, he always did his job with a smile on his face. We are lucky, our players are lucky to have him on our team."
Chase Landers, Athletic Training
-"Chase is without question the best athletic trainer I have ever worked with. He is passionate not only about the health of our athletes, but about their success. I have never had an athletic trainer cheer for my team prior to this season. He vocally supports our team] in both practice and competition. Chase has great hustle, he's a total professional, he's detailed oriented, he genuinely cares for our athletes, and I've never heard him complain one time. His role/title is athletic trainer, but there is no question that he is an integral member of our staff, and more importantly, our team."
Daniel Metzelfeld, Women's Basketball Volunteer Director of Player Development
-"You may know Dan from - his bad (flashy) suits and incredible passion on our Davidson WBB bench; rocking his hair net with pizzaz as he washed dishes and greeted people with a smile at Commons; working at fall sports events; going viral on twitter; and he may have even been your LYFT driver, all just to put himself in a position to contribute to our Women's Basketball Program. Dan was an integral part of our staff by planning and organizing our game and practice film needs, assisting with scouting reports, assist with game and practice planning, and analytics. Dan flat out KILLED IT #BOOM
Zach Rowell, Strength & Conditioning
-"One of our [team members] comments that “Zach Rowell has motivated the team to be focused everyday that we are in the weight room. He has made himself available numerous times for treatments or extra time slots that normally are not available”. He’s done a great job with and for [our program], and is deserving of this recognition."
-"From our team, we hear things like 'Zach made the [us] better by focusing first on form, which eased our fears about lifting, and then by making it cool to lift a lot' and 'Zach is constant source of encouragement and motivation for our team. He meets each person where they are and makes lift a place that regardless of injury, ability, or strength, everyone is able to participate and is excited about improving. We are a better, stronger, and faster team because of Zach’s passion and commitment to each of us.'"
