Community Involvement Award Nominees
Makayla Binter, Women's Track & Field
-Vice President/Communications Chair of Bonner Scholars
-Volunteers at West Charlotte HS every Friday afternoon for 3 hours a week to help in the events planned or assisting on field trips
-Volunteered at DCPC, Davidson Elementary, served as an assistant soccer coach, assistant track coach, and a YMCA Camp Counselor.
Shannon Blee, Lacrosse
-Volunteers at Believe in Tomorrow Children's House in Baltimore when home over breaks.
-At Davidson, she spends four hours a week volunteering at Serenity House in Mooresville.
-Also at Davidson, teaches Spanish at Davidson Elementary School once a week.
Alana Davidson, Women's Basketball
-Volunteers an average of five hours per week at Serenity House in Mooresville throughout the school year, a considerable
commitment from someone whose season spans 2 semesters.
George Hatalowich, Football
-Has spent the last two seasons organizing the Uplifting Athletes program that raises money for rare diseases.
-Helped the football team raise well over their team goal this season.
Max Higgins, Men's Track & Cross Country
-Mental health ambassador and started a program leading weekly runs on the trails, which helps to motivate people to engage in movement,
which has proven to improve mental health.

Mia Hodges, Women's Soccer
"Mia is an incredible example of the liberal arts education: an education that not only builds intelligent contributors in academia but also productive citizens who make the world, practically, a better place. Mia is a chemistry tutor at the Math and Science center, helping use her knowledge to assist fellow Davidson students in their intellectual pursuits. Mia is also on the Student Athlete Advisory Committee, using her influence as a student-athlete to impact policies and procedures and to serve as an advocate for fellow student-athletes. Mia serves as co-vice president for the Health Justice Committee and is an Ada Jenkins Community Wellness Program mentor, roles in which she promotes awareness and action towards global health injustices and advocates for access to health resources. Lastly, Mia traveled with fellow students to Zambia in order to serve in a medical clinic and to help provide access to healthcare for underserved populations."
Kate Singletary, Field Hockey
-Fundraiser for multiple myeloma while training to run across the country this summer from San Francisco to Boston to raise awareness and funds for cancer research.
Casey Sutherland, Baseball
-"Casey constantly involves himself in community service activities at local elementary schools, churches, and is a leader of Davidson’s Fellowship of a Christian Athletes."
