Wildcats Close Out Weekend at George Mason

FAIRFAX, Va. – Davidson suffered a 3-0 (25-18, 27-17, 25-23) setback at George Mason in Atlantic 10 women's volleyball action Sunday afternoon inside the Recreation Athletic Complex.
The 'Cats drop to 7-10 overall and 2-5 in league play, while the Patriots improve to 13-5 and 6-1.
Despite the loss, Elena Garcia-Guerrios and Meile Songaila had 10 kills each for Davidson, while Jordan Hummel picked up 14 digs.
Kiera Hamilton had a match-high 12 kills for the Patriots, who finished with a .288 hitting percentage.
Sparked by the first four points, George Mason, which hit .400 in the set, raced out to 12-4 lead in the opener and never looked back. The Wildcats connected on .310 of their swings, highlighted by five kills from Garcia-Guerrios but suffered five service errors in the frame.
After a back-and-forth start to the second, the Patriots broke a 9-9 deadlock with an 8-2 spurt to grab control and go in front two games to none.
Davidson led throughout the third, including 23-22 late before the Patriots rallied scoring the final three points to secure the match and the weekend series.

The Wildcats will play their next five at home beginning with a 7 p.m. tilt against Loyola Chicago Friday evening from inside Belk Arena.
