
'Cats Fall in Four Sets to Patriots

DAVIDSON - The Davidson women's volleyball team won the first set but were unable to maintain the momentum as George Mason took a 3-1 win inside Belk Arena Friday night.Â
The Wildcats got out to hot start taking the opening set 25-14, peppering 11 kills and five service aces onto the Patriots. Davidson kept the final three bouts close losing by no more than three (25-22, 27-25, 25-23) and extending the third set to extra point.
However, the 'Cats were unable to overcome the deficit, ending the match in four sets.Â
Senior Isabel Decker showed up in a big way for the Wildcats attack, tallying her second-highest kill count of the season with 22, converting on .370 of her attacking attempts. Emma Slusser (12), Meile Songaila (10) and Anna Withee (10) joined Decker in double-digit kills for then night.Â
Xuan Nguyen and freshman Kinsey Smith dished out 25 assists apiece while libero Jordan Hummel went for 25 digs.Â
Additionally, the Wildcats tied a season-high 10 services aces led by rookie Kate Whiteley and Decker.Â
For the match, the 'Cats held advantages in attack percentage (.234-.213), kills (56-53), aces (10-5) and total blocks (9-8).Â
