Bellarmine Tops Wildcats in Double Overtime

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A double-overtime goal lifted Bellarmine to a 3-2 win over Davidson in field hockey Sunday morning.
The difference was a shot off the stick of Alicia Hudson seven minutes into the second 10-minute overtime period.
The Wildcats, now 2-4, led 2-1 in the second half before the Knights (2-4) tied it in the fourth quarter. Davidson held off multiple Bellarmine threats late to force overtime.
After the teams played to a scoreless first half, Sarah Minges got the Wildcats on the board with 11:09 left in the third quarter. Her second goal of the season came after a penalty corner and was assisted by Sib Naaktgeboren.
Abby Pompeo scored her team-leading third goal of the year with four seconds left in the third quarter. Liv Goeke earned the assist, and the Wildcats were out front again.
Paige Hoyer scored both Bellarmine goals in regulation, first with 4:46 left in the third and then with 8:44 to play in the fourth.
