'Cats Fall to #5 Saint Louis in A-10 Quarterfinals

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Davidson volleyball's 2023 campaign came to a close in a 3-1 loss to #5 Saint Louis during the Atlantic 10 Quarterfinals on Friday afternoon.
Bella Brady ended her illustrious career with 20 digs against the Billikens, and 1,953 for her career, while Sola Omonije led the Wildcats with 13 kills in her final collegiate game.
Saint Louis jumped out to a strong start in set one, swinging .407 while holding the Wildcats to a .118 attacking percentage to win it 25-18.
Davidson bounced back in the second, winning their first set ever in an Atlantic 10 Tournament match, combining for nine total blocks powered by Anna Withee, Sola Omonije and Kayla Davis.
In the frame, the 'Cats went on a 14-6 spurt before Saint Louis rattled off a 5-1 run of its own to cut the deficit to four. Down the stretch, SLU's Delaney Rice came up with two clutch swings and a timely block to bring the Billikens back within one of the Wildcats at 16-15. From there, Davidson's blocking unit took off and solo stuffs from Davis, Omonije and Jackie Bardin proved to be the difference as the 'Cats escaped the close set with a 25-23 victory.
Saint Louis flipped the script in the final two sets, winning 25-23 and 27-25 to clinch the match.
Omonije was seemingly unstoppable in the third, recording an incredible eight kills on 10 swings.
Davidson concludes the 2023 season 19-10 overall.
