Roell Named A-10 Defensive Player of the Week

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Davidson goalkeeper Cato Roell has been named Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
The honor is the first of the career for the senior from Almere, Netherlands.
"What a fantastic and well-deserved finish to a stellar career," said Davidson coach Zoe Almquist. "Cato was outstanding in cage for our two wins this weekend, coming up with big saves in critical moments time and again. I'm extremely proud of her!"
Roell helped the Wildcats finish the season with home wins over Saint Louis and Ohio and get to seven wins for the first time since 2015. She totaled 10 saves, including seven in Sunday's season-ending 3-2 victory over the Bobcats, and Roell helped preserve the win by making a point-blank stop in the final seconds.
Roell is the second Wildcat honored by the A-10 this season, following freshman Matilda Collins, who was named A-10 Rookie of the Week on Sept. 18.
