Loyer Named A-10 Player of the Week

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Davidson's Foster Loyer has been named Atlantic 10 Men's Basketball Player of the Week, as announced Monday afternoon by the league office.
Loyer, a redshirt senior from Clarkston, Mich., finished the opening week of the 2022-23 season averaging 28.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, 5.7 assists and 1.7 steals per game. In addition, he shot 46.7 percent (14-30) from 3-point range and converted 25-of-29 (.862) from the charity stripe.
After scoring 30 points in Davidson's season opener against Guilford, Loyer flirted with a triple-double in the Wildcats' thrilling come-from-behind double-overtime win at Wright State. The 6-0 guard drilled three 3-pointers and scored 11 of his career-high 38 points in the second overtime as Davidson erased a 21-point deficit to rally past Wright State, 102-97. Loyer also added 11 rebounds and 9 assists in 48 minutes of action.
The preseason all-conference performer capped Davidson's 3-0 week with 17 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists in Sunday's win over VMI.
