Field Hockey Falls to VCU in A-10 Play

RICHMOND, Va. — VCU scored just before the half and twice in the third period to hand the Davidson field hockey team a 3-0 loss in Atlantic 10 action Friday afternoon.
But Davidson coach Zoe Almquist saw positives in the performance.
"Today's game didn't go our way, but I still thought we showcased some of our best hockey," she said. "VCU is a very strong team — they are a great opponent. It is disappointing to have days where we feel like the score didn't reflect the progress we are making. Today was one of those days. We will regroup and go again next week. I'm already looking forward to it."
VCU took a 1-0 lead into the intermission after Litiana Field scored 1:29 before the half. And Bridget McCormick scored two goals 4:43 apart in the third.
Davidson had four shots, including two on goal. Charlie Kabelac fired one at the cage in the fourth minute, and Corynne Hammit's shot-on-goal came in the third minute of the third period.

The Wildcats are back in action Saturday, April 3 at A-10 foe Saint Louis.
