DENTON, Texas – Despite Kellan Grady becoming the sixth player in school history to join the 2,000-point club, Davidson was unable to overcome a fast start by NC State, falling 75-61 to the Wolfpack, Thursday in the opening round of the Postseason NIT on the campus of North Texas.

The Wildcats conclude the season 13-9 overall, while NC State improves to 14-10 and will meet the winner of Colorado State / Buffalo in next week's quarterfinals.

With 2:57 left in the opening period, Grady connected on a right-handed layup to join Davidson greats Stephen Curry (2,635 points), John Gerdy (2,483), Peyton Aldridge (2,171), Jack Gibbs (2,036) and Fred Hetzel (2,032) on the exclusive list.

NC State, which led from the tap, started 13-of-17 from the floor before carrying a 40-32 advantage into the half. The Wildcats trailed by as many as 14 in the period but closed on a small spurt, including a trey from Luka Brajkovic just before the buzzer.

The Wolfpack shot 66.7 percent in the first half en route to a 58.8 percent clip, while the 'Cats concluded the game at 44.2 percent.

After Davidson carried its run into the second half and cut the deficit to four, 40-36, the Wolfpack answered and stretched the margin back to double figures.

Brajkovic paced four Wildcats in double figures with 15 points. Hyunjung Lee added 13, while Grady and Michael Jones finished with 12 and 11, respectively.

DJ Funderburk led the Wolfpack with a game-high 21 points on 8-of-10 shooting to go along with 7 rebounds.

In addition to Grady's milestone, Lee became just the 11th men's college basketball player since 1992-93 to shoot at least 50% overall, 40% from 3-point land and 90% at the free-throw line for a season.

This was the Wildcats' 24th postseason appearance (14 - NCAA, 9 - NIT, 1 - CBI) in school history and 18th under head coach Bob McKillop.
