NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Davidson senior Emily Roebuck has been named to the Atlantic 10 All-Academic Field Hockey Team, the league announced Thursday afternoon.
Roebuck, of Lutherville, Md., is a biology major and a French minor. She's also in the pre-med plan of study.
"Emily embodies what it means to be a scholar-athlete at Davidson," said Davidson coach Zoe Almquist. "As a senior captain, her leadership was integral to the growth of this team. In the classroom, Emily also serves as an example that the rest of her teammates can emulate. Being pre-med, majoring in biology and also minoring in French shows the breadth of talent in this young woman. I am so proud of her and so excited to watch the next steps in her journey."
A two-year captain, Roebuck started all 19 games this season at center midfielder and rarely subbed.
After graduation, she plans to pursue fellowships in clinical research before entering medical school, where she plans to study either orthopedics or neurology, fields focused on correcting issues of mobility.
"I ultimately want to serve special needs populations," said Roebuck. "Many cerebral palsy children, for instance, require orthopedic work, while other disorders like multiple sclerosis require fixes to areas of the nervous system."

Emily Roebuck, Davidson

MacKenzie Farhley, Lock Haven
