DAVIDSON, N.C. – After a week away from action, Davidson returned to the court in impressive fashion sweeping UNC Asheville, 3-0 (25-23, 25-20, 25-23), before defeating Charleston Southern, 3-1 (25-17, 25-16, 19-25, 25-18), on Saturday at the College of Charleston Invitational.
 
The Wildcats, who will conclude their tournament slate tomorrow with a 1 p.m. match against the host Cougars, improve to 6-3 on the 2018 campaign.
 
"We kept constant pressure on UNC Asheville and I was excited to see our offense clicking so well," said head coach Chris Willis. "In the match against Charleston Southern, they really challenged us at the net. We made some adjustments and I was thrilled with our players' ability to adapt.
I'm looking forward to playing the College of Charleston tomorrow, as they have one of the best offenses we'll see this year."
 
Mason Rooney, the reigning Atlantic 10 Player of the Week, continue her stellar play combining for 27 kills, 40 assists and 20 digs in the two wins.

In a contest that took just an hour and 16 minutes, Rooney led all players with a match-high 16 kills on just 29 swings (.448) to go with 20 assists, 3 service aces and 7 digs.
 
Sydney Champaigne paced the Wildcats with 10 digs, while also setting up 20 of her club's 48 kills.
 
Ellie Crosley (.467) and Katharine Franz (.462) also played a big role in Davidson hitting .304 for the match with 8 and 7 kills, respectively. Crosley was also solid at the net with a team/match-high 3 block assists.

Rooney recorded her third triple-double of the season with 11 kills, 20 assists and 13 digs. Freshman Hattie Rodriguez was also in double figures for the 'Cats with 10 kills, while Elise Edman and Josie Treadwell paced the defense with 17 and 16 kills, respectively.
 
As a team, the Wildcats hit .424 in the opening set en route to a .264 clip for the match. In addition to holding Charleston Southern to just .153, Davidson finished with 9 total blocks, including 5 block assists from Alison Jennings.
 
After grabbing a 2-0 lead in the match with convincing wins in the opening sets, the 'Cats dropped the third before bouncing back with a 25-18 victory in the fourth.
