5/2/2017 12:30:00 PM | Field Hockey
DAVIDSON, N.C. -- Davidson field hockey head coach Ginny Turner has announced a crew of seven incoming freshmen to round out her 2017 roster. Ranging from seven different states, Turner has added two forwards, three midfielders, one defender, and one versatile midfielder/forward crossover.
The seven will join a roster of 16 returners, led by a strong veteran backline of future seniors Anna Brewer, Morgan French, and Lauren Gampper, and almost-junior Courtney Byler. Byler owns the single-season assists record after tallying 11 helpers last year, and future senior Hannah Fisher comes back as the top returning scorer with 17 total points (6 goals, 5 assists) after missing a portion of the 2016 campaign.
"Caitlin [Walsh, Assistant Coach] and I are thrilled to welcome these seven student-athletes to the DCFH family," Turner said. "This class is extremely athletic, skilled, and eager to help take our program to the next level. Their experience on the field, combined with intensity and desire to succeed, will push our current players and make our team better. They are already dedicated to our team values of Commitment, Opportunity, and Heart and I am excited to see them work seamlessly into our team this fall. Throughout the recruiting process, I have seen the integrity and honor in each of them that Davidson students embody. They will be an exceptional addition to the Davidson campus."
