BYLER, THE 'DENIER'
Junior Courtney Byler leads the Wildcat backline, who rank 10th in the nation in defensive saves. Her four on the season is the second-most in the NCAA this season, ranking her third in the country in that statistic. Not only does Byler also lead the league in the category, she ranked atop the A-10 a year ago as well. Byler has 12 defensive saves in her career, ranking her third in program history. Jen Willis '07 finished her career with 16, and Courtney Hughes '04 holds the record with 19.
The Wildcats have six d-saves on the season, as the senior duo of Morgan French and Lauren Gampper have each registered one on the season. Davidson is still in the Top 20 nationally for saves per game (7.20).
SCOUTING THE SPIDERS
The Spiders picked up their first win of the season against A-10 foe Saint Louis, and have went on to take three of their last four contests. Richmond most recently upset nationally-ranked Saint Joseph's in a slim 1-0 victory courtesy of a penalty stroke. The Spiders rank third in the country in saves per game (9.82), while keeper Felicitas Heinzel is also third in the country individually (9.45).
THE LAST MEETING
Davidson faced the Spiders last season in Richmond, falling 3-1. The contest was scoreless at halftime, but a corner awarded late in the second period allowed the 'Cats to get on the board off a rebounded shot from an Anna Brewer-inserted corner.
