Field Hockey Drops OT Heartbreaker Sunday to Saint Francis

LORETTO, Pa. – Davidson field hockey dropped a heartbreaker Sunday, falling 2-1 to Atlantic 10 foe Saint Francis (Pa.) in its first overtime contest of the season.
Senior captain Lauren Gampper got the 'Cats on the board midway through the first period, scoring on an assist from classmate and fellow captain Anna Brewer. Gampper led the offense with three shots, all on-target. Junior Courtney Byler tallied two shots and another defensive save, a statistic she leads the league in for the second-straight season.
The Red Flash netted the equalizer late in the second half, , and then scored the go-ahead and eventual game winner within the first minute of overtime play.
Sophomore keeper Sarah Zeszotarski registered a new career-high, tallying 14 saves.
Davidson returns to action Friday, welcoming Richmond for an A-10 clash at Belk Turf Field.
