
McGuire Tabbed PFL Freshman Offensive Player of the Year

SAINT LOUIS, Mo. – Davidson quarterback Stockton McGuire was tabbed the Pioneer Football League Freshman Offensive Player of the Year, announced by the league Monday.
McGuire is the third Wildcat to earn this distinction since it was first handed out in 2008.
"I would like to thank my family, coaches, and teammates for pouring time and energy into my life, making it possible for me to receive such a recognition," said McGuire. "Most importantly I owe all my success to the Lord for his grace in letting me be at an amazing school like Davidson and for the gifts he has given me to able to play an amazing sport like football."
The Douglasville, Ga., native appeared in nine games, passing for 1,230 yards and eight touchdowns. He also led the team on the ground, churning out 539 yards on 108 carries and added another four scores.
"We are proud of Stockton and what he was able to accomplish this season," said head coach Paul Nichols. "The future is bright. I look forward to working with him for the next three years."
McGuire was twice named a STATS FCS National Freshman of the Week honorable mention. He posted two games with over 200 yards passing including a 273-yard, 21 completion performance against Butler.
Prior 'Cats to claim this honor were Jonathan Carkhuff in 2010 and Jeffrey Keil in 2014.
