Wintoberfest Is Coming
September 2015
Hello DCFH fans!
It's been a while since I have posted on the blog but there are so many things to talk about. The spring season came to an end, we said goodbye to three amazing seniors, and welcomed six new freshmen! All of them have already been great additions to the team as we survived preseason and have started our conference play for the 2015 season. It's been a crazy ride already especially as a senior playing my last season of collegiate hockey. The whole team came in excited and ready to go August 12 and we have been pushing ourselves each day since then. Don't worry we make more than enough time to have fun too, like reminiscing with the team on our middle school/ high school days.

Our travel weekends have also been filled with activities like lounging by the pool, shopping at outlets or spending time at teammates' houses for dinner and tailgates. It has been so amazing to see our parents and spend time with all of the DCFH families. I don't know what other teams are like but I'm pretty sure we have the best fans ever!

Our season began with a rocky start as we tried to find our footing and become accustomed to travel and school again, but our trip to Michigan changed everything. The excitement for cool weather and a chance to play on blue collegiate turf was only the beginning to the weekend. The day of our game against Vermont, we went to Whole Foods, what now is our lucky place to eat before games, and were more than ready to face a team, which we had a score to settle. It started off like any other game, but we gained a whole new momentum and spark that drove us to one of the best victories in DCFH history! Getting the chance to play Michigan was such an amazing experience as well, for it was the first time we had every faced Michigan. Definitely something I will remember for years to come.
That weekend was only the beginning of our rise out of the rut and into A-10 conference play! Our first A-10 face off was La Salle two weekends ago. The whole game was filled with high intensity play and at times it was a little stressful, but we kept fighting and came out with our first A-10 win of the season! This weekend we celebrated our first weekend sweep taking our second win in the conference.

Writing this on the way home from our trip to Virginia I am so proud and excited of our team and how much we have accomplished already this season. Leading the conference 2-0, we are more than ready to take on Saint Francis and Lockhaven on our road trip Pennsylvania next weekend. I can't wait to see what we can do as the October approaches or as we like to say "Wintoberfest"!
Until next time!
Connie
