Davidson Wraps Up VertKlasse Meet

HIGH POINT, N.C. – The Davidson men and women's track team finished up their two day stint at the High Point VertKlasse Meet, Saturday.
Freshman Jacob Hostetler had a strong showing on the second day. Hostetler earned a fifth-place finish in the 400-meter dash and a sixth-place finish in the 200-meter race. In his first race of the day, the rookie posted a time of 50.20, before running a 22.40 in the 200.
Charles Rappe finished the day with two top-15 finishes. The junior took 10th in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 56.41 after finishing 13th in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 15.19.
In the field events, Xzavier Killings posted a 6.82m jump in the long jump to take eighth. Chris Powell cleared 42-11 (13.08m) in the triple jump to place eighth.
On the women's side, Hannah Rieden raced out to a fifth-place finish in the 800-meter race. The junior crossed in 2:14.56, just .44 seconds out of fourth. Davidson didn't stop there, as three more Wildcats posted top-20 finishes. Olivia Menden took 13th in the race with a time of 2:16.92, while Ashlyn Gruber ranked 17th crossing the line in 2:19.33. Brigid Behrens (2:20.57) took 19th place finish.
In the 800-meter run participation, freshman Grace Watts crossed the line in 2:21.51 to finish third overall. Teammate Sierra Ponthier wasn't far behind, as she finished in 2:22.56 to take sixth place.
Molly Marshall took 11th in the women's pole vault final as the senior cleared 10-11 ¾ (3.35m).
The Wildcats will return to the track April 11 for the Aggie Invitational.
