
Three Track Athletes Earn All-Academic Honors

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Juniors Patrick Rollo and Olivia Menden and senior Sal del Guidice of the Davidson men and women's track and field team all earned Atlantic 10 All-Academic honors, the conference announced Tuesday.
Athletes are eligible for the All-Academic Team if they earn a cumulative grade-point average of at least a 3.00 on a 4.00 scale, and must be a starter or important reserve.
Rollo claimed Davidson's sole individual conference crown in the 800 meter at the 2015 A-10 Championship. The junior raced to the top of the podium, posting a time of 1:53.59. Earlier this season, Rollo became the sole record holder for the indoor 800-meter run. At the JDL Hilton Garden Invitational, the Owing Mills, Md., native posted a time of 1:52.93 to set a new program record for the event on a flat track, before clocking a 1:52.06 to break the previous record of 1:52.18 on a banked track set by Andrew Lantz in 2012. Rollo is studying psychology.
Del Guidice was part of the competitive distance medley relay that placed fourth at the 2015 A-10 Championships. The Wildcats' foursome crossed in 10:03.30 to shatter the previous school record of 10:10.08 set in 2013. He also ran the first leg of the 4x800 relay that played eighth with a time of 7:56.69. Earlier in the season, the Macedonia, Ohio native, claimed victory in the one-mile to became the second fastest one-miler runner in school history at the High Point Challenge. The senior captain crossed in 4:14.15. Del guidice is an economic major.
Menden ran the third leg of the 4x800 relay that finished third at the 2015 A-10 Championships. The Wildcats' foursome crossed in 9:07.35 to set a new program record. The Upper Arlington, Ohio native also competed in the one-mile where she finished 14th with a time of 5:15.60. Earlier in the season, Menden captured first place in the mile run with a 5:09.16 at the Johnson City Indoor Classic. Menden is a biology major.
In their inaugural campaign in the A-10, the men's team finished in fifth-place, while the women's team set five new marks en route to a 12th-place finish at the conference championship.
