Davidson Edged in 1-0 Battle at No. 18 James Madison

HARRISONBURG, Va. – Davidson goalkeeper Emily Leytham made nine saves and three Wildcats fired shots on goal, but a first half score by Danni Wilson gave No. 18 James Madison a 1-0 victory Tuesday night at JMU Field Hockey Complex.
Leytham has registered more than five saves for the sixth time this season, while James Madison's netminder Sara Kraeutler made three stops.
Midway through the opening frame, Wilson notched what would go on to be the game-winner in the 14th minute. Taylor West sent a shot toward the cage and Wilson corralled the rebound and found the back of the cage for her third goal of the season.
Davidson came out in the second half with the first scoring opportunity with Anna Davis sending a shot on goal, but Kraeutler made the save. Four minutes later, the Wildcats earned consecutive penalty corners that resulted in shots from Melissa Funsten and Katherine English, but Kraeutler kept the shutout intact with two stops.
The Wildcats are back in action on Friday, Oct. 16 when it hosts Atlantic 10 rival Richmond at Belk Turf Field at 5:30 p.m.
