Wildcats Run Strong at UNC Open

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Davidson indoor track and field team had a number of strong performances at the Art and Linda Maillet UNC Open Saturday at Dick Taylor Track.
Freshman Stephanie Hautamaa recorded a jump of 3.40 meter (11-1¾) to set a new Davidson indoor pole vault record. Hautamaa finished tied for second. Senior Molly Marshall wasn't far behind, ranking fourth with a jump of 3.25 meters (10-8). Freshman Megan Comstock vaulted 2.44 meters to take eighth. In the pole vault, the women had three top-10 finishers.
Sophomore Jenna Boue earned an 18th place finish in the 400 meter run with a time of 1:04.61, before turning in a 26.61 to rank 30th in the 200 meter run.
On the men's side, Xzavier Killings finished fifth with a jump of 6.67 meters in the long jump, while Jordan Marshall earned eighth place with a jump of 6.21 meters.
In the 200 meter run, Jerry Chang led the way wth an eighth place finish. The rookie crossed the line in 23.47. Jacob Hostetler (23.97) and Dylan Sandlin (24.36) finished 15th and 17th respectively.
Francis Corson took 14th in the 400 meter run, crossing the line in 52.82. Hostetler was the next Davidson runner to cross the line in 53.75 to earn an 18th place finish. Greg Sargent turned in a 55.45 to take 25th place.
Davidson returns to the track Jan. 30-31, for the JDL Hilton Garden Invitational.
