Wildcats Earn Academic Honors from NFHCA

NFHCA Acadmic Team | NFHCA Academic Squad (Individual)
DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Davidson field hockey team was named a 2013 Division I National Academic Team while eight individuals earned scholarly honors as the National Field Hockey Coaches Association announced it's Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad honors this week.
Programs needed a team grade-point average of 3.0 or higher during the first semester of the academic 2013-14 year to receive the accolade. American University claimed top honors with a collective GPA of 3.58, followed by Central Michigan at 3.54. Future Atlantic 10 foe VCU claimed one of the nation's top averages, tying for fifth at 3.50.
In addition to VCU, six other A10 teams made the list. UMass, Lock Haven, Saint Francis, St. Joseph's, La Salle and Richmond also earned the accolade. The Wildcats will join the league this summer.
In addition, Katherine English, Anne Federico, Becca Jones, Danielle King, Carolyn Macek, Lauren McFayden, Tyler McFayden and Sydney Schreiner were named to the NFHCA's National All-Academic team. The elder McFayden earned special designation for receiving the honor for the fourth consecutive season, while Macek received the accolade for the third time. In order to be considered for the acknowledgement, players must maintain a 3.3 GPA throughout the fall season.
