POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – A strong defensive effort and five first-half touchdowns led Marist to a 38-7 victory over Davidson in Pioneer Football League action Saturday afternoon in Tenney Stadium.
An interception by Matt Casey and a three-and-out gave Davidson (1-10, 0-7 PFL) a strong start defensively, but Marist (4-7, 4-4 PFL) was able to score touchdowns on five of their next seven possessions before the halftime break en route to a 35-0 lead. On the other side of the ball, Marist limited Davidson to just 40 yards of offense and two first downs in the first half, ultimately yielding just 144 yards of offense.
Hub Cirame earned Davidson's lone score late in the fourth quarter on an 11-yard run, while William Morris was the Wildcats' top producer on offense, hauling in 12 catches for 65 yards. The performance moved Morris up to third all-time at Davidson with 165 career receptions. His career-highs of 88 catches and 1,102 yards this season rank second and third, respectively, at Davidson.
Marist quarterback Ed Achziger completed 17 of 24 passes for 172 yards with two touchdowns. One touchdown pass was to Armani Martin, who had a game-high 79 receiving yards on four catches, and the other was to Joe Tralli. Tralli's brother, Matt, was Marist's top target with seven catches for 45 yards.

Marist's first score came at 6:47 in the first quarter, as Onakoya capped a five-play, 58-yard drive with a 15-yard touchdown run. The Red Foxes also scored on the first play of their next drive, as Achziger connected with Martin for a 47-yard touchdown. Lucas added a rushing touchdown with 2:44 remaining, and an interception on Davidson's first play of the ensuing drive setup another touchdown drive before the break.
