McFayden, English Claim NorPac East Honors

RADFORD, Va. – An undefeated opening weekend has led to multiple honors for the Davidson field hockey team as Tyler McFayden and Katherine English claimed the NorPac East Offensive Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week awards, respectively, as announced by the league Tuesday.
McFayden notched a pair of goals and a pair of assists to help Davidson open the season 2-0. The senior forward knocked home two scores in the squad's 6-0 shutout of Georgetown, also picking up an assist in the contest. McFayden also assisted on a goal by Anna Davis in the squad's 2-1 triumph over Towson. This is the second time in her career she has earned Player of the Week honors.
In her collegiate debut, English not only got the start but a goal as well. The freshman forward notched the first strike of her career ten minutes into the second half to put the Wildcats in front 3-0 vs. the Hoyas.
Davidson will host the University of Vermont this Friday at 6 p.m. at Belk Turf Field.
