Team designated gifts continue to make a great impact for Davidson Athletics. In the Wildcat Top 21 competition which measures former athletes giving to Davidson's athletic programs, women's soccer claimed the top spot for the second year in a row with an impressive 50% participation rate. Football set the pace for our men's programs with a participation rate of 39.5% to rank 5th. The Wildcat Top 21: Senior Edition saw senior student athletes 96% making their gift to athletics.
Fundraising for the highly anticipated Athletic Center continues to be a focus for the DAF. In the past fiscal year, over $4,400,000 was committed to the $15 million dollar project. The new facility will provide much needed practice space for men's and women's basketball and volleyball as well as new dance studios, health and wellness for students, faculty and staff, and a new ticket office and game day entrance off the Baker parking lot.
The DAF also hosted numerous successful events in 2012-13, including pre and post-game events , pre-season coaches lunches, and a 20th reunion for the Final Four men's Soccer team . Signature DAF events include the James P. Hendrix Award, the Hall of Fame Celebration, and the Dr. Tom Scott Memorial Golf Tournament.
Davidson College achieved its most impressive fund-raising year to date, raising more than $76.5 million. Of that total, more than $14 million was given through the Annual Fund which also reached 60% alumni participation for the 11th year in a row.
