DAVIDSON, N.C. -- The Wildcat Top 21, Davidson's giving competition for former athletes is back! In anticipation of this year's fiscal year close on June 30, 2013, the Wildcat Top 21 engages former Davidson athletes in a friendly competition, tracking the percentage participation in alumni giving to athletics (the Davidson Athletic Foundation) for each team.
Check out the first week's standings!
Last year's final standings saw women's soccer take home top honors with over 50% of all former players making a gift to the DAF or to their team. Volleyball was a close second and saw the biggest year over year jump in team participation with a 12.5% increase in alumni giving. Will your team make a move to the top of the Wildcat Top 21 this year?
Make a gift today!
As a kickoff to this year's Wildcat Top 21, Director of Athletics Jim Murphy had this to say:
In the midst of exams with Commencement as the appointed goal, another year of athletic competition ends with success, championship opportunities and change. Once again, we celebrate NCAA participants, conference champions, academic superstars and school record breakers. Your partnership with us has allowed the legacy of success to continue and we are grateful for your support as we strengthen our foundation. As we look forward, your contributions will help us meet the needs and dreams of our athletes as we move into the Atlantic 10 Conference in 2014-15.
It's also time to measure the Wildcat Top 21 for 2012-13 as we evaluate the engagement of former athletes in today's programs. On behalf of our over 440 athletes, I thank you for your investment in our program, including, but not limited to, the following additions and enhancements:
· Infield renovation at Wilson Field including new bases and home plate
· Streaming audio for baseball games
· International travel opportunities for Lacrosse, Golf, and Men's Basketball
· Permanent team shelters and a brick patio for before and after-game gatherings at Alumni Soccer Stadium
· Scoreboard and backstops on the soccer practice field
· iPads for our coaches
· GoPro cameras for tennis to analyze court movement
· Additional west coast and northeast meets for cross country and track
· Drainage system for the cross country course
· Additional recruiting opportunities for our coaches
· Extra team apparel for many of our teams including rain gear, travel apparel, team sweats and alternate uniforms
· Wall art, action graphics and overall re-branding of the Doe Weight Room
· New weight room equipment including benches and dumbbells
· DV Sport Video System for football to analyze and cut film for individual players
Your gifts have also provided scholarship dollars to help our coaches recruit the finest students to Davidson College. Our goal is to support our 21 Division I programs at the highest level. This can and will be achieved with your help. Thanks for all you do.
